The Ottawa Rapid say head coach Katrine Pedersen will depart at the end of this season.
The former Danish national team captain said Friday she wants her next job to be closer to her family.
“My commitment to the players, the staff and this city has not changed. We still have important work in front of us, and my full focus is on helping this team continue to grow and achieve success with courage, discipline and belief,” Pedersen said in a team news release.
The professional women’s soccer team have won four games in a row and have a record of nine wins, two losses and a draw, good for a seven-point cushion over Montreal for top spot in the Northern Super League (NSL) standings.
They lost in the 2025 NSL semifinal after a second-place finish in the regular season. Pedersen has been their only coach in their two years of existence.
“She has helped establish the standards and culture of this club with professionalism, care and commitment to the players. We fully respect her decision and are grateful for the role she has played in building Ottawa Rapid FC,” said team CEO Thomas Gilbert.
Sadie Waite scores the game-winning goal in Ottawa Rapid FC’s 2-1 win over Halifax Tides FC.
