Get to know the reigning Olympic champion and two-time world champion hammer thrower Camryn Rogers, as she will be competing for Canada at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.

This morning featured the first bit of athletics competition at Glasgow 2026, and Canadians were in action. Here’s a rundown of what happened in the morning session at Scotstoun Stadium:

Reigning world, Olympic, and Commonwealth Games champion Camryn Rogers breezed through qualification in the women’s hammer throw. Her second attempt travelled 68.81 metres, tops among all qualifiers. Fellow Canadians Jinaye Shomachuk (64.84) and Jillian Weir (63.84) will join Rogers in Tuesday’s final.

In the first round of the men’s 100-metres, Canada’s Duan Asemota qualified for the semifinals with a time of 10.16 seconds. Fellow Canadian Eliezer Adjibi (10.31) did not advance.

The women’s 100m heats featured new Canadian record holder Sade McCreath and teammate Gabrielle Cole. Both Canadians qualified after topping their respective heats, McCreath in 11.33 and Cole in 11.48.

They’ll join Canadian Audrey Leduc in the semifinal round, who was one of seven sprinters given a bye.
