Blue Jays dominate Dodgers 11-4 in Game 1, make World Series history with pinch hit grand slam

It was a game plan executed to perfection.

Yesavage, despite some struggles, kept the Blue Jays in it while the offence made Snell work hard, even though it failed to capitalize early.

Then, a combination of power, patience and depth — the Blue Jays’ winning formula all season — took over in a decisive nine-run sixth inning, punctuated by Addison Barger’s pinch-hit grand slam.

From there, the Blue Jays were able to cruise to the finish without using their top two relievers, Jeff Hoffman and Louis Varland.

Game 2 goes Saturday with first pitch at 8 p.m. ET. Blue Jays ace Kevin Gausman will take the mound against Dodgers righty Yoshinobu Yamamoto, who is coming off a dominant complete game in the NLCS.
