Canada’s Abigail Strate earned bronze in women’s ski jumping World Cup competition on Wednesday.
The Calgary native scored 222.3 points in the normal hill event for her fourth World Cup medal of the season (one gold, two silver, one bronze).
Her third previous medals were in large hill, which makes its debut at the Milano-Cortina Games.
Abigail Strate won her fourth World Cup ski jumping medal of the season, this time a bronze medal in the normal hill event on Mount Zao in Yamagata, Japan.
Austria’s Lisa Eder (227.9) and Slovakia’s Nika Prevc (226.5) placed ahead of Strate.
“I’m quite happy with today, especially the qualifying jump as I took some time off competition and then came back here, so I think my expectations were a little high yesterday,” said Strate, who finished ninth in Tuesday’s World Cup event.
“Then today I took it away, enjoyed the jumping and I’m now looking forward to the next one of the season.”
Canadian ski jumper Abi Strate shares her excitement on going to the 2026 winter Olympics in Milano-Cortina. Plus, she discusses getting the moment she never got at the Beijing Olympics.
The 24-year-old Strate is set to make her second Olympic appearance in February in Italy.
She finished 23rd in the individual normal hill event and earned bronze in the mixed team event at the 2022 Games.
