Canadians will bring home a pair of medals from a World Cup ski cross event on Saturday in Gällivare, Sweden.
Reece Howden, of Cultus Lake, B.C., won silver in the men’s big final while Ottawa’s Hannah Schmidt took bronze in the women’s competition.
Howden had already wrapped up the Crystal Globe for the men’s overall title last weekend on home snow in Collingwood, Ont. It was the second-straight title and fourth overall for the 27-year-old ski racer.
Sweden’s David Mobaerg won gold on Saturday, with Kilian Himmelsbach of Germany taking bronze.
On the women’s side, Schmidt finished third in the big final for her second podium appearance in as many weeks. The 31-year-old scored silver at last weekend’s Canadian stop.
Sweden’s Sandra Naeslund won gold in Saturday’s event while Daniela Maier of Germany claimed silver.
The season wraps up on Sunday with one final event in Gällivare. That event will stream live on CBCSports.ca and CBC Gem beginning at 5:20 a.m. ET.
