Valérie Maltais of La Baie, Que., picked up her third medal at the Milano-Cortina Olympics and second bronze, keeping the retiring American Brittany Bowe off the podium.

Maltais delivered a time of one minute 54.40 seconds while Bowe, who has never medalled in the event at the Olympics in her 16-year career, clocked 1:54.70 for fourth.

Antoinette Rijpma-de Jong of the Netherlands won gold in 1:54.09.
