China’s Xu Mengtao repeated as Olympic champion in women’s aerials at the Milano Cortina Olympic Games on Wednesday.

Australia’s Danielle Scott and Shao Qi of China joined Mengtao on the podium, in silver and bronze-medal positions, respectively.

Canadian freestyle skier Marion Thenault finished seventh overall after just missing out on qualifying for the super final.

Thenault, of Sherbrooke, Que., put down scores of 103.89 and 101.90 to put her in seventh place, but only the top six skiers moved on. Qi edged Thenault by 2.04 points for the final spot in the super final.

The 25-year-old Thenault – who won Olympic bronze at Beijing 2022 as part of the mixed team event – topped all competitors in the first qualifier (108.61) to advance directly to the first final.
