Brad Jacobs and his decorated Team Canada rink remained unbeaten at the Montana’s Brier with an 8-2 win over Ontario’s Jayden King in Monday’s early draw.
Jacobs, the defending Canadian men’s curling champion and gold medallist at last month’s Milan Cortina Olympics, improved to a Group A-best 4-0 with a lopsided victory that took just eight ends to complete.
His Calgary-based team opened with a deuce, stole a point in the third end and stole three more in the fifth for a 6-0 lead.
King’s team from Tillsonburg, Ont., scored its first point in the sixth end, but Jacobs responded with another deuce. The teams shook hands after King was limited to one point in the eighth.

In other early results, Nova Scotia’s Kendal Thompson downed Young 11-2, Tyler Smith of Prince Edward Island defeated Nunavut’s Derek Samagalski 10-5 and Jean-Michel Menard scored two in the 10th to beat Saskatchewan’s Kelly Knapp 8-7.
Menard moved into third place in Group A at 2-1. Young was tied with King at 2-2, followed by Knapp and Thompson at 1-2, Smith at 1-3 and Samagalski at 0-4.
Group B teams were set to play Monday afternoon, with Alberta’s Kevin Koe leading the standings at 3-0.
