Fans ready to go fully bananas
For some of the thousands of fans here at the Rogers Centre who could witness the Blue Jays winning the World Series in person, it’s an emotional experience combining excitement and disbelief.
“It’s surreal. This afternoon I was sitting there [thinking], this isn’t really happening,” said Justin Lancaster, who came with his wife Molly to watch the game.
Lancaster is a season-ticket holder who has been going to games his whole life.
“Even talking about it now I get teary,” he said. “It’s the one thing that’s bringing everyone together in Canada.”
Dave Hudson said he was in London, Ont., when the Jays won the series in 1993 and always thought how fun it would have been to be in the big city and enjoy it with everyone else.
Now he’s here, watching the game with his wife and son.
“I’m sure everybody is going to go absolutely bananas if they can pull it off tonight,” he said.
“I will be one of the bananas.”
