With growing momentum from a strong first season, the Northern Super League doesn’t want its fans to miss one second of action, so all 80 regular season and playoff matches of women’s professional soccer will be available across Canada.
The NSL on Thursday unveiled an expanded lineup, including 10 additional broadcasts, with the CBC beginning its coverage April 25 when Ottawa Rapid FC visits Halifax Tides FC.
A night earlier, Vancouver Rise FC hosts ACF Toronto in an NSL Final rematch. Rise prevailed 2-1 in a memorable comeback performance before an announced crowd of 12,429 at BMO Field in Toronto last November.
Over 1.1 million Canadians tuned in across CBC/Radio-Canada, TSN and RDS to watch as Holly Ward gave Vancouver a lead it wouldn’t relinquish in the 68th minute.
In June 2024, CBC/Radio-Canada entered a multi-year partnership with NSL along with TSN/RDS, with matches available at CBCSports.ca and CBC Gem, and Radio-Canada providing French-language coverage.
For this season, the networks return as broadcast and streaming media partners. Game action will pick up late in the season on CBC Sports with four matches scheduled to air in September and three more in October/November — both legs of semifinal A and the Nov. 14 Finals.
Live streaming of games will be shown on CBC Gem, TSN+ and NSL YouTube.
Vancouver Rise hoist the Diana B. Matheson Trophy after being crowned NSL Champions after defeating AFC Toronto 2-1.
Montreal Roses contests will be available in French on either Radio-Canada platforms ICI TELE and ICI.TV or RDS, while select matches will air on RDS Info and co-stream on the RDS YouTube channel.
“Season one proved that the appetite for professional women’s soccer in Canada is real and growing fast,” Kelly Shouldice, NSL vice-president of brand and content, said in a news release.
“In season two, we ’re not just expanding where fans can watch, we’re evolving how they experience the game. From more matches on television, to new weekly formats, to innovative digital broadcasts … we’re meeting fans wherever they are.”
NSL Soccer Saturdays will feature games each Saturday from April through November.
New for this season is Northern Super League: Best of the week — A one-hour weekly highlights program airing on TSN and NSL YouTube channel featuring the biggest goals, defining plays and standout performances.
The personality-driven NSL Watch Party is a new, YouTube-first live experience that complements the league’s broadcast coverage. Watch party will stream six times this season, starting May 31 when Calgary Wild FC hosts AFC Toronto.
Each watch party pairs the match with real-time reactions, insights and conversation, led by NSL host Kate McKenna, a rotating lineup of special guests and two-time Olympian Erin McLeod, the veteran national team goalkeeper who retired from the NSL last September.
Watch Party is designed for digital audiences as the format leans into interactivity, fan engagement and behind-the-scenes context to create a more social, immersive viewing option.
