The Toronto Tempo will pick sixth in the upcoming WNBA draft as they prepare for their inaugural season.
The Tempo won a coin toss Friday over their expansion cousins, the Portland Fire, and elected to select one spot ahead of the Fire in the draft scheduled for April 13.

WNBA teams have until Sunday to inform the league of the five players they’ll be protecting ahead of the expansion draft. The two teams will alternate who picks sixth and seventh in the second and third rounds of the WNBA draft. So Portland will go sixth in the second round and seventh in the third round. Toronto gets the seventh pick in the second round and sixth pick in the third round.
Toronto will also pick 22nd and 36th in the entry draft.
The coin toss outcome also grants Toronto first position on the waiver wire.
The Tempo open their debut season May 8 against visiting Washington.
