
Canadian tennis players breezed into the third round of the Shanghai Masters men’s tennis tournament on Saturday.
Montreal’s Felix Auger-Aliassime, the 12th seed, defeated Chile’s Alejandro Tabilo 6-3, 6-3.
Denis Shapovalov of Richmond Hill, Ont., the 23rd seed, also won his match in straight sets, taking down Australia’s Christopher O’Connell 6-3, 6-2.
Auger-Aliassime and Shapovalov will next play on Monday, against the Netherlands’ Jesper De Jong and Jiri Lehecka of the Czech Republic, respectively
Fellow Canadian Gabriel Diallo will face David Goffin of Belgium in a third-round match on Sunday.
