Laurence Biron earns Canada’s 3rd judo gold; all eyes on Canada’s relay teams at Commonwealth Games

Canada’s Brendon Rodney rejoins men’s 4x100m relay team for final

Hi, I’m a senior producer with CBC Sports.

When Athletics Canada coach Glenroy Gilbert made the decision to switch up the men’s 4×100-metre relay team for the opening heats at the Commonwealth Games, it came with a caveat: the squad would be reevaluated after the first round.

Duan Asemota, who ran in the third leg instead of relay stable Brendan Rodney, helped the Canadians to a second-place finish in their heat, earning Canada a spot in the final.

But Canada has made the switch back to Rodney for Saturday’s final, a decision confirmed by CBC Sports reporter Devin Heroux.

The four men who captured the 2024 Olympic title, Aaron Brown, Jerome Blake, Rodney, and Andre De Grasse, are back and ready to contend for gold.
