Toronto Blue Jays flying high as they look to sweep Yankees in New York

The fanbase vibes going in

Jays’ merch selling out as city buzzes over ALDS run

The energy in Toronto has been electric for the Blue Jays during their ALDS run. CBC’s Ali Chiasson dives into how excited fans are supporting the team and local businesses.

For Blue Jays fans, this ALDS has been a dream. Nobody, and I mean nobody, expected them to win 10-1 on Saturday and follow it up with a 13-7 drumming of the Yankees that was never really close.

But the Yankees are still a dangerous team, so Jays fans will be nervous tonight. As Jays veteran George Springer put it, the team is entering tonight’s game as if the series is still 0-0.

Of course, it’s not, and nobody knows that more than Yankees fans who suffered through those first games. At worst, some of them are coping by baselessly claiming the Jays are cheating, which prompted Yankees broadcaster Michael Kay to go on a rant telling those fans, “Unless you can prove it, shut up.”

At best, New York fans are holding up the seven runs the Yankees scored in Game 2 as a sign their offence is alive and there’s a path to victory.
