Want to go to a Blue Jays playoff game? Here’s how you could score free tickets

Toronto Blue Jays fans may have the chance to score some free playoff tickets this weekend courtesy of Rogers.

The Blue Jays owner announced Thursday it will be giving away 500 free tickets to every Blue Jays postseason home game at Rogers Centre.

“Everyone can feel the buzz of postseason baseball across Canada right now,” said Terrie Tweddle, Rogers’ chief brand and communications officer, in a news release.

“As proud owners of the Toronto Blue Jays, we want to give even more fans and customers a chance to experience the excitement firsthand.”

The first two games of the American League Division Series will be played on Saturday and Sunday in Toronto.

Rogers will be giving away 250 pairs of tickets to fans each weekend game on a first come first serve basis at an undisclosed location in the Greater Toronto Area.

The locations will be announced at 8:30 a.m. each game day through Rogers’ social media platforms.

Wife brings husband’s ashes to what would have been their 1st Jays game together

A Nova Scotia couple was set to attend their first Blue Jays game together last week. Instead, Carol Deveau went alone after her husband’s sudden death over the summer, bringing his photo and ashes so he could be with her while she “fulfilled his wish.”

Fans unable to travel to a location will have the opportunity to comment on an Instagram post by 10 a.m. for a chance to win one of 10 pairs of tickets for that day.

Toronto earned a bye to the Division Series by clinching the AL East and the American League’s top seed with a 13-4 win over Tampa Bay on the final day of the regular season.

If Boston wins its AL Wild Card Series against the New York Yankees, Toronto begins the playoffs Saturday against the Red Sox at 1:08 p.m. ET. Should New York advance, the Blue Jays will take on the Yankees on Saturday at 4:08 p.m.

Game 2 in either scenario is set for 4:08 p.m. on Sunday.

Boston and New York are tied 1-1 in the best-of-three series as of Wednesday night.
